Dont forget the end-of-the-season banquet is Friday, February 10th.  Remember, the required attire is shirt and tie for the players.
January 20th------IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!
The games scheduled for tomorrow against Corona del Sol have been changed.  The times of the games are now going to be held at 10am for the JV and Noon for the Varsity.  There is no bus service for the players so they will need to go directly to Corona-------JV will meet at 9am and Varsity at 11am.

January 9th, 2012

There have been two games rescheduled for both JV and Varsity.
The game against Mesa High School (that was cancelled due to rain) has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, Jan. 11th @ 4pm for the JV and 6pm for the Varsity.  The address of the school is 1630 E. Southern Avenue, Mesa, 85204 (it's between Gilbert and Stapley Roads).
Also-----the game against Corona del Sol, scheduled for Saturday, January 21st, has been changed.  It will now be held at noon that day for JV and 2pm for Varsity.  The address of the school is 1001 E. Knox Road in Tempe.  It's on Rural, between Ray and Warner Roads.

There will be a Soccer Booster Meeting on Monday, January 9th at 7pm in room G103 at the high school.  This will be a planning session for the remainder of the season and beginning of next season.  We hope you all can make it------we'd love your input!

This week is the Tempe Diablos Soccer Classic for the Varsity team.  There are games at 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with more games possible on Thursday and Friday if we win our pool.  Please see the schedule, listed both in the "schedule" section and under the "Tempe Diablos Soccer Classic" section for information about fields and home/visitor.

November 27th, 2011
The season begins this week!  We have three games scheduled:  Tuesday is against Desert Vista (away).  Thursday is against Maricopa (away).  And Friday is our first home game against Mesquite.  The Junior Varsity games are at 4pm and the Varsity games are at 6pm.  
The first Pasta Dinner of the season is tomorrow night (Monday) at the 
Del Giorno home----3527 E. Hialea Court.  It's a combined dinner for both JV and Varsity and will begin at 6pm.  It should last around 90 minutes.
Please don't forget to bring donations for the concession stand to the dinner as Carola will be here to collect them.

Important reminders for this week:
1. The car wash is this Saturday at the Burger King at 48th Street & Warner Road.  The JV players are expected to work from 8:00am to 11:am.  The Varsity team will work from 10am to 1pm.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that the players get their tickets sold (in the white folders) and the money turned in to the managers (Katy or Kayla) by tomorrow's practice (Friday).  This money is for the players to use to purchase whatever it is they decide as a group (sweatshirts, bags, etc.).
2. Sponsorship forms need to be turned in by Friday also, for those that are getting sponsors for the soccer program. Those forms (and the attached checks) can also be given to the managers.
3. We are missing information sheets on a few of the players, and also payment by a few.  We also need the forms and payment (program payment; shirts; sponsors, etc) by Friday.  The forms/payments can be given to the managers.  Sandy Bettner will be at the practice at some point to also pick up all forms and payments.
4. There have been some changes to the game schedule------they are shown here on the website (under Schedule).  We still need donations for the concession stand and help working in the concessions during the games.

The car wash is this Saturday (November 19th) from 9am to 1pm at the Burger King at 48th Street and Warner Road.  All players must sell their tickets (that are in their folders) and turn in the money by Friday, Nov. 18th-------the money can be given to the managers (Katy or Kayla).  It is also expected that the players will participate in the car wash------the coaches will tell them what time to be there.

Tryouts for the 2011/2012 season are now complete and the rosters for the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will be posted by Wednesday evening. Thanks to all the players and parents who attended the meeting tonight. We  received most of the information that we needed from the players and expect that we'll receive the rest this week.
For those that had to leave early, we still need a lot of help this season and would appreciate anything you can do!  We need hosts for two of the JV Pasta dinners and for one of the Varsity dinners.  Check the website later this week to see the updated lists for hosts and the food that will be needed for the dinners and for other ways that you can help out the program.

MOST IMPORTANT!!  We need donations for our concession stand!  Not too many people signed up to help with donations for the stand and this is a big way that we can make money for the program.  We'll post the donations list in the concessions section of our site (look under "more"-----and you can see what we can use.  Right now, our biggest need is soda, though there are many other things that are needed.  

Donations for the concession stand can be brought to the first pasta dinner that will be held on November 28th at the Del Giorno home.  Carola Meyer will be there to collect them.

There is a scrimmage scheduled for the Varsity team on Tuesday, November 22nd @ 5pm at Barry Goldwater High School (last season's 5AD2 State Runner Up).  The school is located at 2820 W. Rose Garden Lane, Phoenix, AZ  85027.

TRYOUTS FOR THE 2011/2012 SEASON WILL BE HELD DURING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 31ST.

Tryouts for MPHS Mens' Soccer will be Monday, October 31st through Friday,
November 4th. 


They will be held on MPHS Lovett Field at 3:15pm.  All players trying out are required to have their physicals completed and the $50 athletic fee paid (at the Bookstore), in order to attend the tryouts.  Coach Sabato would like all packets turned in by October 24th.

In addition to having their usual soccer gear, players should also bring running shoes to the tryouts.

Varsity and JV rosters will be determined by Friday, November 4th.  If you have any questions about the tryouts or soccer program, please contact Coach Bryan Sabato in the MPHS Guidance Department.
